Time to celebrate!

Time to celebrate a bit! We are excited to announce that recently we successfully completed a rigorous, third-party Google Security Assessment. YES! This may not seem like a big deal but read on to find out why it really is a big deal!

I know you don’t want to read a bunch of technical stuff, so I’ll keep it straightforward. In October of 2018, Google announced that it would be requiring third-party applications connected to all things Google to prove they are in-fact secure. The purpose of the policy was to promote user confidence and protect user data…two things that I think most of us can get behind! Enter the Google Security Assessment.

So, what is an assessment exactly? Think of it as taking your car in for preventive maintenance. Your car is running fine, and you want to keep it that way, so you schedule regular tune-ups. That is essentially what we did. Over a week-long period, an impartial, third-party tested our application and architecture for vulnerabilities. They hit us from every angle to make sure there was nothing we missed. Anything they found, we fixed, and then they checked our work…your basic tune-up.

So, why would we undergo something like that? Some might say, ”Well that is easy; you did it because Google made it a policy.” You are partially correct. We want to be able to provide features to our coaches that integrate with Google like our Gmail Add-on (coming soon), so the security assessment is a requirement. But that is only part of the reason we did it.

For us, the greater benefit is making sure that we are providing our coaches with a secure and reliable application, so they can focus on recruiting and coaching. Anytime we can take our product in for some routine maintenance and a tune-up, we welcome the opportunity. Having regular third-party security assessments is one of the tools we use to keep things running smoothly.

So, we are celebrating for ARI and all our coaches. The successful completion of this assessment says we are building our awesome application the right way!
